WHY AT ALL STUDY IN POLAND?
Most young people, after graduating from schools
aspire for best colleges or best education in
the US, UK, Germany, Australia (and now even
Singapore and Hong Kong), but due to ignorance
miss out on newer vistas that have opened
recently with the fast changing world economic
order. We propose one such destination – POLAND.
Past few decades has seen (fortunate or
unfortunate as one may perceive) |
 |
the dismantling
of the socialist block and individual countries
rapidly merging into the global economy and
contributing to the world’s economic growth.
Poland is one such country, now a full time
member (since May 2004) of the European Union.
After leaving behind its communist past, it has
quite rapidly arisen from behind the “iron
curtain” to become one of the advanced nations
of Europe and the world too. A fact, people do
not know much about in our parts of the world.
The European Parliament (consisting of
representatives of the existing EU members) took
this decision after keeping a thorough watch on
its economic transformation, development and
growth and its ability to adapt to new changing
reality.
Poland traditionally has been a centre for
learning. The success of Polish academics today
has its roots in the past. The best evidence of
this comes from the large numbers of foreign
researchers working in Polish institutions of
higher education, and their Polish counterparts
who lecture abroad. If you go through the list
of professors and lecturers of the World famous
colleges and universities you will be surprised
to find a large number of Polish surnames. These
professors and lecturers graduated from some of
the prestigious Polish colleges, which deprived
of good marketing, advertising and were closed
for commercial Education purposes during the
communist era.
The library catalogue of the Cathedral Chapter
of Cracow dating back to 1110 shows that already
in the early twelfth century Polish
intellectuals had access to the European
literature of that period - including the
Classics like Ovid, Terence, Statius and
Sallust. Polish scholarship has brought many
academic achievements and discoveries of global
importance.
Through ages Poland has given to the
world-renowned astronomers (Copernicus),
physicists (Nobel Laureates Marie Curie, Leopold
Infield.), mathematicians (Rejewski, Różycki,
and Zygalsk worked on Cryptography and Stanisław
Ulam devised the famous Monte Carlo method),
chemists (Nobel Laureate Walter Kohn),
biologists and doctors, etc. It gave to the
world 3 Nobel laureates in the two decades
between 1980 and 2000. World famous Cracow
University, established in 1364 is today one of
the members of the Coimbra group of European
Universities. It may even surprise you that
“Fahrenheit’, the unit of temperature that we so
frequently use in our science numericals comes
from Gabriel Fahrenheit, a famous 18th century
Polish scientist. There are many other
interesting facts to be found at /www.poland.gov.pl
and the list is almost unending.
I am sure that not many of you are aware of the
fact that while the Indian youth makes a beeline
for cozier destinations in the US, UK, Europe or
Australia, students from the US head for Polish
educational institutions that promise not only
qualitatively equally good higher education in
English, but also at a fraction of the cost of
what these western institutions offer. Polish
colleges provide not only an opportunity for
excellent Education but also are inexpensive
compared to other European, American,
Australian, New Zeeland or Singapore colleges.
Why should a student pay bags full of money for
the tuitions and then work for 20 hrs a week to
make the living, when one can devote all energy
on education without working part time for the
money spent on paying just the tuition fees in
other countries.
For these reasons more and more Britt, Germans,
Norwegians, Italians, French, Americans etc. are
coming to Poland for higher studies. This is big
enough an attraction for the students coming
from the west to study in this far off country,
a new entrant to EU – Poland.
"Education in Poland" is a small step in this
direction to facilitate students wishing to
study abroad and become good specialists in
their respective fields. As it is only the first
step, we are currently targeting only a little
number of institutes/ Universities that provide
education in the fields of Business Management,
Administration and Marketing (BBA, MBA courses),
Hotel Management and a whole range of computer
courses ranging from BCA, MCA, M.Sc in Computer
Sciences to Networking, Robotics, etc. We are
planning on expanding Universities for other
disciplines and a wider number of colleges. |
